Volunteer Trainer (on-site)

Description
We are seeking a volunteer to become our Volunteer Trainer! This role supports the long-term sustainability and well-being of residents by empowering, training, and mentoring new volunteers into their roles, providing hands-on training on supplementation, physical therapy, and enrichment for special-needs residents and other animals who require specialized supportive care.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
1. Provide hands-on training to new volunteers, serving as their mentor and guide for animal care and techniques to safely handle animals when administering their care.
2. Provide physical therapy, enrichment, supplementation, and support to the residents, with a focus on special-needs animals.
3. Administer medications and wound care as-needed.
4. Regularly checks and responds to all incoming emails, calls, texts, and Slack messages within 72 hours (except during time off or extenuating circumstances). Urgent matters are addressed immediately, generally within 24 hours.
Qualifications:
● 18 years of age or older
● Minimum high school education or equivalent (e.g., GED)
● Basic computer competency (e.g., Excel, Word, etc.)
● Excellent communication, writing, and organization skills
● Must be a team player
● Leadership experience (preferred)
● Experience managing a recruitment program (preferred)
● Experience working with and leading volunteers and/or volunteer groups (preferred)
● Volunteer experience with KAEF

Time and Place:
● On-site work at the KAEF property.
Commitment:
● Overall time commitment: Minimum of 6 months
○ Required to work at KAEF for a minimum of 2.5 hours per training session a month.
○ Required to host a minimum of one training per month.
○ All scheduling conflicts must be appropriately communicated with the Volunteer Recruitment and Training Manager. - For scheduling conflicts 1 week or more away, email kauaianimaleducationcenter@gmail.com - For scheduling conflicts in less than 1 week or within 24 hours, text the Volunteer Recruitment and Training Manager.
Supervision: Direct supervision by Director of Animal Care and Volunteer Recruitment and Training Manager; indirect supervision by Board Directors.
