The Admitting volunteer is considered an integral part of the Admitting/Registration Department. The department serves as a processing point through which most patients must pass. It is important to recognize that admitting patients is only one of a number of functions performed. Admitting and Registration is vital to the successful operation. Superior customer service is essential.
Volunteers are required to attend Volunteer orientation and Training. Training hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30. Orientation to the Admitting and Registration Department is done by a department staff member. The Admitting and Registration Department is also responsible for completing a Department Orientation Form to be placed in the volunteer’s file located in Volunteer Services.
Confidentiality - is of the utmost importance. Information pertaining to a patient, patient records, condition, family, etc., must be kept confidential. Besides patient information, hospital information not for public use should also be kept confidential.
