Description
Junior Achievement of Hawaiʻi is looking for two volunteers to teach second graders this fall at Pauoa Elementary School in Honolulu. You’ll lead hands-on activities that help students learn how people earn, spend, and save money and how different jobs support their community.
Time commitment: You’ll teach five 45-minute sessions in your assigned classroom, for a total of 3 hours and 45 minutes of classroom time. You’ll work with the teachers and other volunteers to choose dates and times between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on school days. All participating second-grade classrooms will hold their JA sessions on the same dates and at the same times. The sessions can be spread out over several weeks or scheduled closer together. They don’t have to be on consecutive days.
What we provide: Junior Achievement provides volunteer training, step-by-step lesson plans, and all classroom materials. No teaching experience is required. You’re welcome to share examples from your own work or everyday life to help students connect with the lessons.
