Description

Help CCH celebrate our 76th year at our annual Membership & Awards Meeting. The event runs from 9:00am-1:00pm at the Bishop Museum Atherton Hālau. Along with brunch and musical entertainment, our program includes guest speaker James Morioka of the Papahānaumokuākea Marine Debris Project, the unveiling of the artwork for our next educational wildlife poster, presenting our Koa Award for Excellence in Conservation to 808 Cleanups, prize giveaways, and unique gifts in our country store and silent auction.

Volunteers are needed to help in various areas of the event, which may include food and beverage attendant, silent auction or country store attendant, registration/check in and cashier, costume character, and character handler positions. All volunteers will help with set up prior to the event when possible. Brunch will be provided.

Shift 1: Annual Meeting Volunteer

Time: 8:00 AM - 1:30 PM

Role Description:

Help where needed at the event. Duties may include assisting with food and beverage (monitor and restock supplies), helping with country store or silent auction (monitor supplies and merchandise, help answer guest questions, restock store items), or registration/check in table and cashier (check guests into the event, cashier for at-the-door ticket purchases or store/auction purchases).

Requirements:

shift includes break to eat brunch.

Shift 2: Costume Character or Character Handler

Time: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Role Description:

Costume Character - Wear one of CCH's costume characters (Hina the monk seal or Ranger Rick the raccoon) to greet guests and pose for photos. Actual time in the costume with guests will be about 20 minutes. Shift also includes assisting with set up, getting into/out of costume, and enjoying brunch. Character Handler - each costume character needs a handler to help assist with putting the costume on/taking costume off, leading the character throughout the venue, and helping to pose for photos. Costumes can be difficult to see all angles and the handler helps to avoid trips and falls, and let the character know when people are approaching and where to look for photos.

Requirements:

Height between 5'2" and 5'10" and Weight must be size XL or smaller. Volunteer duties will end between 10:30am-11:00am, but volunteer is welcome to stay at the event as a guest afterwards.

Please note for costume character roles, there is a height and weight range to be able to fit into the costumes comfortably. Height between 5'2" and 5'10" and Weight must be size XL or smaller.
