The WE Are Kalihi – YOUth Matter Community Event, hosted by the Kalihi Connection Coalition, will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at King David Kalākaua Middle School. And we would love to have you join us!
Earlier this year, we heard from youth at schools and programs across Honolulu about what matters most to them. Their answers were simple but meaningful: they want more opportunities to play, spend time with family, learn from their kupuna, and create memories together. They want to challenge their parents to games, hear stories from earlier generations, and enjoy experiences that bring their families closer.
With their voices in mind, this year’s event will feature fun youth activities, family-strengthening resources, and opportunities for kupuna and keiki to share stories, culture, and traditions.
If you, your team, or someone you know would like to volunteer, we would be so grateful for your help. There are many ways to be part of the day, from helping with activities and event operations to simply spending time welcoming and connecting with families.
