Who We Are
Hawaiʻi Fi-Do Service Dogs is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to training and placing exceptional service dogs with individuals in Hawaiʻi who have physical or developmental disabilities. Founded in 1998, our mission is to strengthen independence, confidence, and connection through the healing bond between people and dogs.
Our Work
Every service dog begins its journey as a puppy carefully selected by our founder and raised with love, patience, and purpose by our dedicated puppy raisers. Over 18 months of professional training, our dogs learn specialized tasks—such as opening doors, retrieving items, providing balance support, and calming anxiety—so they can help their partners live fuller, more independent lives.
Beyond service dog training, our therapy and community outreach programs bring comfort and hope to children and families affected by domestic trauma at Child & Family Services, seniors at Arcadia care home, and students in local schools, such as Princess Ruth Keʻelikōlani Middle school and Fern Elementary school. Our dogs touch hundreds of lives across the islands each year.
Why It Matters
For many, a service dog means more than assistance—it means freedom, confidence, and companionship. Hawaiʻi Fi-Do Service Dogs bridges that gap by ensuring those in need have access to life-changing support, regardless of financial means. Each partnership between person and dog represents a story of empowerment and community aloha.
How You Can Help
As a donor or volunteer, you become part of this journey. Your support allows us to train more dogs, reach more families, and expand programs that bring healing and hope throughout Hawaiʻi. Together, we can continue building a stronger, more compassionate community—one service dog at a time.
