Volunteer Ally – Purple Day at Ho‘omaluhia (Lei Making + Rock Painting)

Purple Day at Ho‘omaluhia is a free community event focused on epilepsy awareness, connection, and encouragement for individuals and families impacted by seizures. We’ll host fun, hands-on activities that help people feel welcome and supported.
Important note: Seizures are among the top three medical emergencies in schools—this event helps our community learn, connect, and feel less alone.

Volunteer Roles Needed

1) Lei Making Activity Support
Help guests make a simple purple lei and keep the station running smoothly.

Tasks include:

• Set up the lei-making table (materials, samples, signage)

• Welcome guests and help them get started (great for keiki and first-timers)

• Refill supplies, keep materials organized, and support a steady flow

• Light cleanup at the end

2) “Paint the Rocks” Activity Support (Epilepsy Awareness Rocks)
Guests will paint small rocks and add a sticker/QR message to share epilepsy awareness around the island.

Tasks include:

• Set up the painting station (rocks, paint/markers, table covering)

• Help with simple design ideas and keep materials moving

• Assist with placing the sticker/QR neatly once complete

• Keep the area tidy and kid-friendly

• Light cleanup at the end

Ideal Volunteer: Friendly, patient, and comfortable helping guide simple activities for kids and adults.

Volunteer Zoom Prep:
We will meet via Zoom on Friday for a quick run-through so everyone knows the plan, flow, and what needs to be accomplished.💜
