Acopan Garden Service Learning

Mānoa Heritage Center invites you to take part in our upcoming Acopan Garden Workdays! Community gardens play a crucial role, not only connecting us to nature and to our food, but also each other! Volunteers will help with weeding and general maintenance to keep the garden, primarily planted with Filipino medicinal plants, healthy and productive. 

 

Filipino medicine practitioner Nicolita “Nicki” Garces will be on site to demonstrate gathering techniques and share knowledge about our harvest. MHC has been very fortunate to have Nicki’s guidance through the process of establishing and utilizing these various herbs and veggies, and her knowledge is second only to her enthusiasm when it comes to sharing it!

  

This is a great opportunity to give back to the ‘āina, learn about and propagate useful plants, and connect with others in the area to strengthen our community’s food sovereignty.
