Our Free Store is a community safety net resource that provides families in-need with access to donated clothing and household goods—all at no cost. Thanks to generous contributions from local businesses and community members, we are able to create a welcoming, store-like environment where our neighbors can “shop” with dignity.
All donated items are carefully sorted and displayed in a retail-style setup. During the event, community members are paired with a volunteer personal shopper, who helps guide them through the store following a set of simple guidelines reviewed during a brief orientation at the start of each shift.
Greeters: Welcome community members and help manage check-in and flow
Personal Shoppers: Assist shoppers as they navigate the store, offering support and guidance
Restockers: Replenish items from our back inventory to ensure a full shopping experience
Sorters: Organize and prepare incoming donations (role depends on the number of volunteers available)
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and experience levels! School-age children are welcome to volunteer with parental supervision, and this event is a great opportunity for families, school groups, or service clubs to get involved together.
Our goal is to provide individuals and families in need with essential items—free of charge. We understand the financial burdens many in our community face, and we hope the Free Store can help alleviate some of that stress. By creating a dignified, supportive shopping experience, we aim to offer not just goods, but also a sense of relief, care, and connection.
All volunteers and guests can park for free in our larger Mauka parking lot during the event.
All volunteers will participate in a mandatory orientation held one hour before the event starts—this is already included in the time listed for your shift. During orientation, we’ll review all event guidelines in detail so that you feel confident and prepared for your role.
First-time volunteers will be paired with a veteran volunteer to shadow until they feel comfortable taking on the role independently.
No waivers available.
