Join Us for a Rain Garden Workday

Rain that falls in our neighborhoods doesn’t just disappear, it flows downhill, often carrying debris and pollutants straight into Maunalua Bay. Rain gardens help slow that flow and clean the water naturally, and we’re working to keep ours thriving at Koko Head District Park.

On Thursday, August 16th from 9:00 am–12:00 pm, join Mālama Maunalua for a hands-on morning of weeding and caring for our rain garden! This garden provides important infrastructure to help soak up stormwater, filter out pollutants, and create space for native Hawaiian plants to thrive.

Whether you’ve joined us before or it’s your first time, this is a great opportunity to connect with the land, meet fellow volunteers, and be part of a growing movement to protect Maunalua Bay from ridge to reef.
