The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawai‘i (EFH) has been serving our islands since 1971, dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by epilepsy. We are the only statewide nonprofit in Hawai‘i focused exclusively on epilepsy support, education, and advocacy.
Our programs include:
Hawai‘i Epilepsy HelpLine – providing free, confidential support and connection to resources for anyone impacted by seizures.
E-Kōkua Club – a growing statewide membership network that offers peer connection, volunteer opportunities, and educational activities (from ukulele sessions to wellness workshops).
Community Education – seizure recognition and first aid training for schools, businesses, and organizations across the state. Epilepsy is one of the top three medical emergencies in schools, making this training essential for student safety.
Advocacy & Awareness – working to reduce stigma and ensure people with epilepsy have equal access to education, healthcare, and employment.
With 1 in 10 people experiencing a seizure in their lifetime and someone in the U.S. having a seizure about every four minutes, our mission is to ensure no one faces epilepsy alone. Volunteers and interns are a vital part of our work — helping us answer the HelpLine, connect with the community, and expand our reach across all islands.
